CROP logo A statewide program designed to increase the number of students who successfully enter and complete a postsecondary institution.

The program's primary objective is to strengthen the educational motivation and preparation of low-income and educationally disadvantaged students in grades 8 through 12, representing various cultural backgrounds, who "otherwise would be unlikely to seek admission to a community college, state university or independent post secondary institution without special support and recruitment efforts."

To be eligible for CROP a student must meet at least one criteria in each of the categories below.

Application Process

Applications
are accepted throughout the school year.

The following items are require to verify eligibility:

  1. completed CROP application
  2. updated high school transcript, middle school report cards
  3. school recommendation (from principal, teacher, or guidance counselor)
  4. 200 word essay for high school, 100 word essay for middle school on student's educational and career goals
  5. parent(s) / guardian(s) income verification (tax return and/or approved free /reduced lunch letter)
  6. documented proof of all services checked on the CROP application
  7. documentation of student school ID no.
  8. copy of FCAT scores for current 8th and 10th graders

Summer Programs

  • held for five weeks on university campus;
  • classes are Monday-Thursday only;
  • particpants include current 8th-11th graders;
  • limited number of participants selected for one-week residential living experience.
