Genereal Education Council - Minutes of June 16, 2006

Present: Scott Campbell, Irene Frank, David Frankel, Joan Morris, William Murray, Suzanne Perry-Casler, Robert Potter (Chair), Andrew Smith, Judy Wilkerson

Absent:

Guests: Janet Moore, Diane Williams

The meeting was called to order at 9:00am.

1. Approval of the minutes for May 19 and May 26 was tabled until the next meeting. Drafts of the minutes will be sent to the Council for review.

2. Letter of congratulations for course approval was approved.

3. Discussion: Database issues - It was suggested that faculty tips regarding cheating, online and in traditional classes be added to the Resource section of the website. Reviewer status, time table, flow chart, time out settings, save issues, margins when printing, saving review comments

4. Chair to assign additional review teams to proposed courses and will identify a primary contact on each team. Reveiwers will let Shannon know when a course has been completely reviewed and is ready to go before the council.

5. It was agreed that Review teams should be able to contact the submitter for clarification of course proposal.

6. Council would like to request information/policy for standards and criteria for online courses.

   The next meeting will be at 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2006, in SVC 2080. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
