The meeting was called to order at 9:00am.
The minutes of the July 14, 2006 meeting were approved as amended.
- Under old business, the status of pending courses was discussed. Summary reviews for ANT 3610 - Anthropological Linguistics, ANT 3101 - Archeology, and GEY 2000 - Introduction to Gerontology are still needed. In addition, all remaining courses submitted in May were assigned review teams. These courses include:
- GEY 3625 - Sociocultural Aspects of Aging
- GEY 4635 - Business Management in an Aging Society
- GEY 4641 - Death and Dying
- GEY 4647 - Ethical and Legal Issues in Aging
- HSC 2100 - Contemporary Health Science
- SYA 4935 - Senior Seminar in Sociology
- There was a question as to whether or not History of Visual Arts I and II had been reviewed.
- Under new business, vacancies on the council were discussed. Letters of reappointment need to be checked on and the new nominations have been sent to the Council on Councils. In addition, it was the need for more representation from the College of Arts and Sciences was discussed. It was agreed that another seat representing CAS would be requested as an amendment to the original composition of the Council. An ex oficio seat for Student Affairs would also be requested.
- A presentation to clarify expectation for the Historical Context and Process dimension was made.
- Discussion on assessment included a suggestion that in conjunction with approval of the course, the expectation that the course would be assessed in the second or third year should be made clear. It was also suggested that all capstone and exit courses be included in assessment efforts.
The next meeting will be Friday, August 11, 2006, in SVC 2080.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
