Social and Behavioral Sciences Core Courses

Students must satisfactorily complete at least six (6) credit hours of approved coursework in the Social and Behavioral Sciences. The courses may be interdisciplinary and need not be sequential.

Courses in the Social Sciences are likely to:

  • Provide opportunities to study social groups, institutions, and organizations, and their context.
  • Have a theoretical and empirical focus on individuals in relation to others and their environment.
  • Formulate basic questions and inquiry about the nature of social life through both interpretive and systematic analyses.
  • Address a broad area with concern for both methodological and substantive issues.

Courses in the Behavioral Sciences are likely to:

  • Have a theoretical and empirical approach to the study of human behavior.
  • Formulate basic questions and inquiry about the nature of human behavior through both interpretive and systematic analyses.
  • Address a broad area with appropriate attention to both general issues and methods of the discipline.
