B.S. in Applied Science Students
Florida's two-year colleges offer many exceptional programs that meet these demands through their Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees. Although these applied and technical degrees provide excellent preparation for students seeking jobs that require specific knowledge, skill and ability, they have not generally transferred very efficiently into four-year Bachelor's degree programs. The Bachelor of Science in Applied Science (BSAS) has been developed by USF to afford exciting new opportunities for A.S. degree holders to pursue and acquire a distinctive USF Bachelor's degree.
The BSAS program is a "capstone" degree offering A.S. degree holders an efficient pathway to a Bachelor's degree. The various concentrations offered allow students to somewhat tailor their degree to match their academic interests and career ambitions. To achieve this match, BSAS students will plan their program in ongoing consultation with an academic advisor who will help them design an individualized program of study.
This degree program is available ONLY to A.S. graduates from a Florida public community/junior college.
- Concentrations offered to Applied Science majors include:
- American Sign Language
- Behavioral Healthcare
- Criminal Justice
- Early Child Development
- Environmental Policy
- General Business
- Gerontology
- Hospitality Management
- Industrial Operations
- Information Technology
- Public Administration
- Public Health
- Urban Studies

Students Who Need Re-advising
Changing majors is sometimes a part of the college experience. Often students encounter the reality that their major of choice is not an option because of limited acceptance numbers, minimum GPA standards, or merely a realization that this is not the right path for them. Whether this decision is voluntary or determined by a limited access program (i.e. Business, Education, Nursing) the TRansitional Advising Center is here to assist you with the selection of a new major. Our office is located in room 2011 of the Student Services Building (SVC).
As part of the re-advising process you will meet with an advisor, discuss options and ultimately declare a new major.
Prior to seeing one of our TRAC advisors, you will need to complete the Re-advising Information Form. Bring the completed Readvising Form to your scheduled appointment. During your advising session the TRAC advisor will talk with you about your previous coursework, any alternative majors that you may be considering and relevant GPA considerations. If appropriate, the TRAC advisor will refer you to the Career Center for further exploration. Re-advising may require multiple sessions, so to avoid hasty decisions made out of frustration, we encourage you to begin this process as soon as possible. When you have reached a decision about your major, the TRAC advisor will explain the declaration process and refer you to an academic advisor in your new major for course selection and planning.
While you are in the process of selecting a new major, you will be re-coded to Undeclared status. If you are placed on MJ hold because of this status change you will not be able to register for classes until you have declared a new major. Although TRAC's goal is to help you move through the re-advising process in a timely manner, we also believe in the importance of making an informed decision. We strongly encourage you to begin this process as soon as the need for a major change is apparent.
