University Experience SLS 1101 is a two-credit elective course designed specifically for first-year students to welcome them to USF.
Each class consists of approximately 25 students and is built around four major themes: building community, learning about campus resources, developing
effective academic skills, and exploring personal character and values. Research has shown that students who complete the University Experience course
have a higher GPA, are more likely to graduate on time, and are more involved in campus activities.
Making the transition from high school to a major university is sometimes challenging, yet very exciting. The University Experience course brings
first year students together in small groups to discuss such topics as:
Campus Resources
Learning Strategies
Degree & Career Planning
Academic Integrity
Critical Thinking
Managing Time & Money
Library & Technology Resources
Health & Wellness
Diversity & Globalization
We are proud of our University Experience program and hope it will become a valuable beginning to your college experience at the University of South Florida.
