The meeting was called to order at 3:18 p.m.
- The minutes of March 5, 2001 were approved.
- Announcements
- The Undergraduate Council voted on the extension of the drop deadline proposal that was brought forward by Dr. Wienker. The council voted to accept the proposal to move the deadline to drop/withdraw without academic penalty to Friday of the 10th week of classes, Fall and Spring Semesters only.
- The Undergraduate Council met with a group who want to obtain a Phi Beta Kappa chapter at USF. There was a discussion about the liberal arts requirements and how they affect the Phi Beta Kappa application process.
- The Undergraduate Council will continue to discuss Liberal Arts at the next meeting.
- Discussion and action on proposals
- GEY 4628 Minority Aging
This course discusses minority status, race, and ethnicity which are socially constructed concepts that reflect our aging society's value systems, prejudices, and social stratification. This course will expose students to these concepts through a life course and political economy perspective. Following discussion, this course was approved as a new course meeting Social Science certification.
