The meeting was called to order at 3:09 p.m.
- The minutes of March 22, 2004 were approved.
- Announcements/Discussions
- College of Education
The Chair of the Undergraduate Council will meet with Bob Sullins over the summer to discuss/approve the College of Education programs prior to Fall, 2004.
- Glen Besterfield was elected to continue as the Chair of the Undergraduate Council.
- New course/curriculum proposals
- PSY 2013 Psychological Statistics
This course is an introduction to gathering and analyzing psychological data, with lab. It covers basic descriptive statistics and analysis procedures, as well as use of computer analysis packages, intepretation of outputs, and writing of summaries. Following discussion and minor revisions, this course was approved as a new course meeting quantitative methods general course requirements.
- WOH 3400 Islam in World History
This course examines the origins, spread, and development of Islam within the context of the main global historical processes and events of the past 1500 years. Following discussion and minor revisions, this course was approved as a new course meeting ALAMEA and Historical Perspectives general course requirements.
- SYP 4111 Identity and Community
This course is a sociological examination of the meanings of identity in the post-modern era. Topics will include the characteristics of identity at the levels of individuals, institutions, culture, and the processes of identity construction and change. Following discussion and minor syllabus revisions, this course was approved as a new course.
- DAN 4162 Research in Dance
This course will introduce basic research methodologies for conducting research in the dance genre, and will serve the student in preparing for future research based study in the field of dance. Students will conduct library, internet, and field research. Following discussion and minor revisions, this course was approved as a new course.
The next meeting will be Monday, September 13, 2004. The meeting was adjourned at 4:53 p.m.
