USF Undergraduate Council - Minutes of April 25, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 3:14 p.m.

1. The minutes of April 11, 2005 were approved.

2. Announcements/Discussions

   • The College of Nursing's request for the Dean's List and Honors Designation changes will be handled within the College of Nursing.

   • The Final Examination policy has been amended. The revised section of the policy is listed in red below:

     Comprehensive Final Examinations: The last 6 days of the Fall and Spring semesters shall be set aside for final examinations, and any comprehensive final examination must be given during this designated period. The last examination of the semester (comprehensive or non-comprehensive) must be given during final exam week. The period of two hours shall be allotted for each final examination. If a student has a direct conflict of scheduled examinations or has three or more examinations scheduled on the same day, the student may petition the appropriate instructor to reschedule one of the student's examinations. The final examination schedule shall be published in the same manner and place as the Schedule of Classes.

   • Chris Ponticelli was elected as the new chair of the Undergraduate Council.

3. New course/curriculum proposals

   • NUR 3044 Spanish for Health Professional - TABLED

   • THE 2252 Great Performances on Film
     This course traces the evolution of acting styles, from Lillian Gish to Samuel L. Jackson and beyond, focusing on the analysis of performance technique, the history of cinema, and the social and political environment they parallel. Following discussion, this course was approved as a new course meeting the Fine Arts general education designation.

4. Assignment of Course Proposals

The next meeting will be Monday, September 12, 2005 . The meeting was adjourned at 4:32 p.m.
