USF Undergraduate Council - Minutes of November 8, 2004

The meeting was called to order at 3:05 p.m.

1. The minutes of October 25, 2004 were approved.

2. Announcements/Discussions

   • Nursing Handbook
     The Undergraduate Council has no objection to repealing the rule that created the Nursing Handbook.

3. New course/curriculum proposals

   • EIN 4352 Engineering Cost Analysis - TABLED

   • LIN 2000 Language and a Movie - TABLED

   • REL 3117 Religion and Contemporary American Sports
     This course explores the function of sports in America. It covers the history of sports; the status of American sports; and sports as religious events. The course is open to majors and nonmajors and is not repeatable for credit. Following discussion and minor revisions, this course was approved as a new course meeting Historical Perspectives and Social Sciences certification.

   • BS Music Education
     The Bachelor of Science degree program in Music Education has been re-evaluated and agreed upon by the CVPA School of Music and the College of Education. Following discussion, this major was approved.

   • BSAS Concentration in Hospitality Management
     The Bachelor of Science in Applied Science (BSAS) with an emphasis in Hospitality management has been designed to offer A.S. Degree holders from a Florida Public Community College a distinctive USF Bachelor's degree. Following discussion, this degree was approved.
   • Assignment of Course Proposals

     • GET 4293 New German Cinema to the Present - New course/HP/MW&MI - Fleege
     • Anthropology - changes to major requirements - Ponticelli

The next meeting will be Monday, November 22, 2004. The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
