The meeting was called to order at 3:15 p.m.
- The minutes of November 8, 2004 were approved.
- Announcements/Discussions
- The College of Business Administration GPA and limited access issues were briefly discussed.
- New course/curriculum proposals
- EIN 4352 Engineering Cost Analysis
This is a non-repeatable course restricted to Industrial Engineering majors. It provides students with the principles and techniques for the cost analysis, estimation and evaluation of engineering design in service and manufacturing organizations. Following discussion and minor changes, this course was approved.
- LIN 2000 Language and a Movie
This course offers initial exposure to foreign languages and cultures. Through lecture, demonstration, discussion, and the viewing of full-length feature films, students are introduced to a variety of prominent modern and ancient languages and cultures. Following discussion and submission of a new syllabus, this course was approved a new course meeting ALAMEA requirements.
- GET 4293 New German Cinema to the Present
This course is an overview of post-1945 Ger flms with emphasis on films fr New Ger Cinema (1960s-early 80s) & its aftermath. Course offers insights into Germany’s artistic, intellectual, and social history, as well as general film history and criticism. Taught in Eng. Following discussion this course was approved as a new course meeting Historical Perspectives and Major Works/Major Issues requirements.
- Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology voted to make some changes in the requirements for the major in Anthropology. The rationale behind the changes is to improve the quality of the graduating seniors by requirement them to maintain an average best attempt 2.5 GPA in major classes, with no grade below a C in those classes. In addition, majors will now be required to take one class in research methods, chosen from an available menu. This will not be an additional class; the methods class may also count toward the existing subfield requirements of 15 credits. Following discussion, these changes were approved with minor modifications.
