USF Undergraduate Council - Minutes of February 27, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 3:02 p.m.

1. The minutes of February 13, 2006 were approved as submitted.

2. Announcements/Discussions

3. New course/curriculum proposals

   • CAP 4401 Image Processing Fundamentals
     This course is a practical introduction to a range of fundamental image processing algorithms. Use of the C language in algorithm construction. Extensive programming, with emphasis on image analysis and transformation techniques. Image transformation and manipulation. Following discussion, this course was approved.

   • HSC 4531 Medical Terminology
     This course provides a unique educational program to improve the student’s medical vocabulary. The course includes medical and scientific content information, which students encounter in other health professional courses. Not restricted to any major. Following discussion and minor changes, this course was approved as a new course meeting Natural Science certification.

   • Information Security - All courses and Program TABLED
     The Information Security proposal was TABLED following a call to question on the proposal with two friendly amendments. Approval of the program was conditional upon the approval of the courses and a discussion on the specific title of the program. The vote was 4 affirmative and 4 negative votes.
     • BSAS - Information Security - New program for AS to BS program
     • CIS 3360 Principles of Information Security - New course
     • CIS 3362 Cryptography and Information Security - New course
     • CIS 3363 Introduction to Network Security - New course
     • CIS 3367 Firewall Principles and Architecture - New course
     • CIS 3374 Architecting Operating System Security - New course
     • CIS 4366 Computer Forensics and Investigations - New course
     • CIS 4373 Information Security Management - New course
     • CGS 4813 Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning - New course
