The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m.
- The minutes of March 27, 2006 were approved as submitted.

- New course/curriculum proposals
- COP 3257 JAVA for Experienced Programmers
This course involves program design and development using the JAVA programming language. Comparison of program design in a procedural language (C recommended) verses design in the JAVA language. Application development using advanced programming techniques. Following discussion and course changes, this course was approved pending receipt of a revised course syllabus.
- COP 3333 Visual Basic for Experienced Programmers
This course involves program design and development using the Visual Basic language and application development tools. Application development using advanced programming techniques where visual presentation is a priority element. Following discussion and course changes, this course was approved pending receipt of a revised course syllabus.
- EDF 4490 Studies in Research Design
This course is a research design course that introduces students to the logic and dynamics of the research process. Following discussion and minor revisions, this course was approved.
- GLY 2163 Geology of the National Parks
This course is an introduction to the nature of geologic processes including plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanism, glaciation, and shoreline processes drawing on examples from our National Parks. Following discussion, this course was approved as a new course meeting Natural Science qualifications.
- HFT 4853 Restaurant Trends and Challenges Seminar
This course is an advanced level course focusing on contemporary management issues and challenges facing the foodservice and hospitality industries. Topics covered will be applicable to current trends applicable to a variety of situations. Following discussion and minor changes, this course was approved with two abstentions.
- HFT 4936 Hotel Management Seminar
This course is an advanced level course focusing on current problems and trends in hotel management and the hospitality industry. Following discussion and minor changes, this course was approved with two abstentions.
- Hotel Management Minor
This minor will provide the general information that will allow students to be able to pursue hospitality related careers that they might otherwise not be qualified or credentialed to pursue. Majors of other disciplines will find this minor interesting and rewarding. This minor may open the door to myriad of management positions in the hospitality industry. Following discussion and minor revisions, this minor was approved with two abstentions.
- Restaurant Management Minor
The minor in restaurant management is an 18-hour program. The minor in restaurant management is a valuable addition to any major but especially business majors. This minor will provide the general information that will allow students to be able to pursue hospitality related careers that they might otherwise not be qualified or credentialed to pursue. Following discussion and minor revisions, this minor was approved with two abstentions.
- HSC 3161 Health, Behavior and Society
This course focuses on an ecological perspective of the determinants of health including biology, individual behavior, social relationships, social stratification, institutions, neighborhoods and communities, environment, policies and globalization. Following discussion this course was approved pending receipt of updated course information.
- HSC 4134 Prevention of Mental Illness
This course explores the contributions of prevention science and public health in impeding the development of mental disorders and the events that lead to mental disorders with the major developmental focus on childhood. Following discussion this course was approved pending receipt of updated course information.
- HSC 4213 Foundations of Public Health Immunology
This course provides an overview of the principles of Immunology and an introduction to the applications of immunology and immunologic techniques used in the surveillance, prevention and control of diseases of public health importance. Following discussion this course was approved pending receipt of updated course information.
- HSC 4423 Foundations of Maternal and Child Health
This course provides an overview of maternal and child health issues and trends. With this primary aim, the objectives are organized around the knowledge of health assessment and interventions for families and children. Following discussion this course was approved pending receipt of updated course information.
