The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m.
- The minutes of April 10, 2006 were approved as submitted.
- Announcements/Discussions
- The online undergraduate course proposal forms will be edited to make course objectives and student learning outcomes one item instead of two separate items.
- Dewey Rundus was elected as the new chair of the Undergraduate Council.
- New course/curriculum proposals
- EDF 3514 History of Education in the United States
This course involves the history of childhood, education, and schooling in the U.S. from early European and African contact to the present. Following discussion, this course was approved as a new course meeting Historical Perspectives requirements.
- Educational Foundations and Research Minor
The Educational Foundations and Research minor provides students the background to apply disciplinary perspective to educational problems through a combination of coursework in social foundations and educational psychology and support for research in education and related areas.
- BSAS - Information Security - New program for AS to BS program
Discussion on this program was not brought up.
- CIS 3360 Principles of Information Security
This course involves a board review of Information Security and related elements. It includes terminology, the history of the discipline, and an overview of information security program management. The course is suitable for IS, criminal justice, political science, and accounting information systems students. Following discussion and minor changes the course was approved with one abstention.
- CIS 3362 Cryptography and Information Security
This course examines classical cryptography, entropy, stream and block ciphers, public key versus symmetric cryptography, one-way and trap-door functions, plus other specific tools and techniques in popular use. Following discussion and prerequisite changes, this course was approved with two abstentions.
- CIS 3363 Introduction to Network Security - TABLED
- CIS 3367 Firewall Principles and Architecture - TABLED
- CIS 3374 Architecting Operating System Security
This course examines tools and techniques for securing Windows and Linux operating systems. Students will acquire knowledge and skills to perform audit assessments and implement enterprise-wide operating system security. Following discussion and minor and prerequisite changes, this course was approved with three members opposed.
- CIS 4366 Computer Forensics and Investigations - TABLED
- CIS 4373 Information Security Management - WITHDRAWN
- CGS 4813 Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning
This course covers when organizations are interrupted by disasters, accidents, or natural events, a loss of money, data, and/or productivity occurs. The extent to which the loss affects the organization's health depends on its ability to deal with these disruptions. Following discussion and prerequisite changes, this course was approved with one abstention and one member opposed.
