The meeting was called to order at 3:06pm.
- The minutes of November 25, 1996 were approved as submitted.
- Program Reviews - The Graduate and Undergraduate Councils may be involved in BOR or accreditation reviews. Dr. Simon distributed a list of upcoming reviews.
- Discussion and action on proposals
- ISC 4004 Scientific Concepts of Time
Withdrawn from consideration
- LIT 4386 British and American Literature by Women
Following discussion, the course was approved.
- Proposed Undergraduate Honors Program in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences
The proposal was tabled because graduate courses may not be required of undergraduate students.
- CEG 4850 Capstone Geotechnical/Transportation Design
Following discussion, the course was approved. The spelling of "geotechnical" must be corrected on the SUS form, the discontinue date (4b) on the course proposal form must be changed from 01/2010 to blank, and 6b must be changed to "May not be repeated."
- CES 4604 Capstone Structural Design, CES 4606 Concepts of Structural Design, CES 4650 Capstone Materials Design, CWR 4812 Capstone Water Resources Design and ENV 4450 Capstone Water and Wastewater Design
Following discussion, each course was approved. The discontinue date (4b) on the course proposal forms must be changed from 01/2010 to blank, and 6b must be changed to "May not be repeated."
- EML 4174 Visual Basic for Engineers and Scientists
Following discussion, the course was approved.
- LAH 2020 Latin American Civilization
This new course is designed as an introductory course in Latin American history. It will be proposed to the General Education Council. The syllabus will be corrected to read "Participation: 20%." Following further discussion, the course was approved.
- SOW 4510 Integrative Seminar
SOW 4510 is the final practice course, along with SOW 4510L Field Placement, required of all social work majors and must be taken with SOW 4522. Instructor qualifications on the course proposal form (7f) will be corrected to "M.S.W. or Ph.D. in an equivalent field." Following further discussion, the course was approved.
- Revision of Undergraduate Economics Programs and ECO 3100 Managerial Economics
Following discussion, both proposals were approved. 4a of the new course proposal will be changed to "No."
