The meeting was called to order at 3:01pm.
- The minutes of September 23, 1996 were approved as submitted.
- A revised agenda including item 4 was distributed.
- Discussion and review of course proposals
- CCJ 4540 Juvenile Correctional Alternatives, CCJ 4550 Developmental Aspects of Juvenile Delinquency, and CCJ 6451 Kids & Drugs
John Cochran answered Council members' question regarding these new courses. The title of CCJ 4651 will be changed to Juvenile Substance Use. Following discussion, each course was approved.
- BSC 4057 Environmental Issues
Following discussion, the course was tabled for a new syllabus until the October 28 meeting.
- MAC 2230 Business Calculus
Fredric Zerla presented this new course to the Council. The course was designed in cooperation with the College of Business Administration and will include basic calculus and its application to problems in business, economics and finance. The department will consider a title change prior to submission to Tallahassee. Follow discussion, the course was approved.
- INR 3616 International Political Cultures
This course will explore the ways culture influences political actions. It will count toward the Major Works & Major Issues exit requirement. Following discussion, the course was approved.
- Discussion on Porter Memo on Proposed Policy Changes from the Council on Academic Advising
- Change to Incomplete Grade Policy - The CAA recommended a change to two terms for completion of an "I" grade. Following discussion, the change was approved.
- Archiving of Syllabi - The CAA recommended that all academic programs archive undergraduate syllabi and course-related material for five years. Following discussion, the policy was approved.
The next meeting will be Monday, October 28, 1996. The meeting was adjourned at 4:55pm.
