The meeting was called to order at 3:00pm.
- The minutes of October 14, 1996 were approved with the following changes to item 4:
Archiving of syllabi was approved. Retention of information regarding what must be accomplished to complete an "incomplete" was not approved.
- Announcements:
- John Noonan was thanked for his letter to the Oracle.
- As the Board of Regents' reviews USF programs, the Undergraduate Council will participate in that review process.
- The Council will review syllabus format for course proposals.
- Discussion and review of course proposals
- BSC 4057 Environmental Issues and GLY 4732 Beaches & Coastal Environments
These courses were tabled until the November 25, 1996 meeting because no department representatives were present.
- SYO 4410 Disability & Society
Sara Green presented this course to the Council. It has been taught as a selected topics course for the last five years and has been approved as a Major Works/Major Issues course by the General Education Council. Following discussion, the course was approved.
- EVR 4225 Wetland Environments
Ingrid Bartsch answered Council members' questions regarding this new course. The course will provide students with a class that deals specifically with wetlands and will offer a broad view of wetland environments. It will also be submitted to the General Education Council for consideration as a Major Works/Major Issues course. Prerequisites will be changed to PCB 3043 or CI. Following discussion, the course was approved.
- AML 3453 Historical Perspectives in Early American Literature
Following discussion, the course was tabled for concurrence from American Studies.
- Distribution and assignment of new course proposals
- ANT 4520 Forensic Anthropology - Ruth Short
- Revision of Undergraduate Economics Program - John Noonan
The next meeting will be Monday, November 25, 1996. The meeting was adjourned at 5:00pm.
