The meeting was called to order at 3:05pm.

- Undergraduate Honors Program in Sociology
The purpose of the Honors Program in Sociology is to provide exceptional undergraduates with advanced, individualized training in research and writing, as well as more direct contact with faculty mentors. The program would enhance the student's research abilities and increase their chance of employment. This program was approved.
- ENL 3000 Introduction to Shakespeare from an Historical Perspective
Examines the plays of Shakespeare from Romeo and Juliet to Othello as manifestations of the social, political, and intellectual forces of the time. The course is taught through distant learning and the lectures will be available on audiotapes. Three essay examinations will be given, and enrollment will be limited to 30 students. The course was approved with the following changes: Number change (3323) and remove "Introduction to" from the title.
- HIS 3938 Issues in History
This course is designed for non-majors and provides an introduction to the discipline of history by examining a specific historical issue and its relation to at least one of the following dimensions: gender, race and ethnicity, international perspectives, or environmental perspectives. The course was approved.
- HIS 3308 War & Society
The course examinations of the ways in which societies have organized themselves for war and how societies are changed by war as well exploring gender expectations in war, and the changing conduct of war. The course is designed for non-majors, but majors may enroll in the course as an elective. The course was approved.
- EGN 3000 Foundations of Engineering
- EGN 3000L Foundations of Engineering Lab
This course and the accompanying lab will replace the Engineering Orientation course and provide mentoring to undergraduate students. Students will be exposure to the different disciplines of engineering incorporate examples of tools and techniques used in design and presentation. Laboratory sections are limited to no more than 25 per section. The course and lab were approved.
- GEY 4635 Business Management in an Aging Society
Moved to the March 23rd meeting.
The next meeting will be Monday, March 23, 1998. The meeting was adjourned at 3:45pm.
