USF Undergraduate Council - Minutes of October 13, 1997

Guests: Jackie Bryan (Dance), Danny Jorgensen (Religious Studies), Ralph Oberste-Vorth (Mathematics), D. Thomas Porter (Undergraduate Studies), Timothy Wilson (Dance)

The meeting was called to order at 3:05pm.

1. The minutes of September 22, 1997 were approved with the correction that PET 3040 was voted down by the Council.

3. Discussion and action on proposals
   • General Education Council - Discussion was postponed to the October 27, 1997 meeting.

   • COP 4313 Symbolic Computations in Mathematics
     The department submitted corrected course objectives and syllabus. The course was approved with one abstention.

   • DAN 2933 Entry Seminar, DAE 4--- Dance Pedagogy: Preschool & Elementary Methods, DAE 4--- Dance Pedagogy: Secondary Curriculum & Methods, DAN 3--- Dance Kinesiology, DAA 3--- Introduction to Laban Movement Analysis
     Participation criteria for DAN 2933 Entry Seminar were rewritten and syllabi for DAN 3--- Dance Kinesiology and DAA 3--- Introduction to Laban Movement Analysis were revised. All courses were approved.

   • REL 3140 Religion, Culture, and Society
     This course is an expanded version of Sociology of Religion. The department revised the proposal to include current references and concurrences. The course was approved.

4. Gordon Rule ad hoc committee - Two members of the Council, Joe Simon, John Robison, have volunteered to review the data when it is available.

5. Distribution and assignment of new course proposals, etc.

The next meeting will be Monday, October 27, 1997. The meeting was adjourned at 3:37pm.
