The meeting was called to order at 3:05 p.m.
- The minutes of February 8 and February 22 were distributed.
- Announcements - Draft copies of proposed changes in the New Course Proposal format and the Substantive Course Change Proposal format were distributed to the members. These proposed changes incorporate the General Education proposal format with the two Undergraduate Council formats.
Jim Eison spoke briefly on the Plus/Minus Grading System. The Faculty Senate has asked the Undergraduate Council and the Graduate Council to make recommendations regarding adopting a Plus/Minus Grading System.
- Review of Course Proposals
- BSC 2085/2086 Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II - These courses are designed for students majoring in Nursing and Physical Therapy. The course objectives need to be included on the course syllabi. Following discussion, the courses were approved.
- ENG 2930 Electrotechnology & World History - This course examines the evolution of electrical inventions and places scientific discoveries in world history. The title was changed to History of Electrotechnology. The course was approved.
- EGN 2931 Circuit Mathematics and Physics - This course is designed for students who are not fully prepared for all aspects of EGN 3373. The course is restricted to Engineering majors, but does not count as part of major credit. Corrections were made in the number of students who will take this course each term. Following discussion on the need for this type of course, it was approved.
- PHI 4602 Contemporary Ethical Theory - This course focuses needed knowledge of the theoretical models covering contemporary ethical theories. Following minor changes in the course description, the course was approved.
- Gerontology Minor - The department is trying to give students more flexibility in the courses to be taken for the minor. The minor was approved.
- ISS 4151 Native American Women - This course is designed as a interdisciplinary examination of the lives of Native American women. It will be proposed for certification the General Education reqirement of ALAMEA. The course was approved.
- GEY 3006 Community Services for Older Adults - This course is designed to expose students to community services for older adults and professionals. Members made suggestions for the reworking of 7c on the course proposal. Following discussion, the course was approved.
- NUR 4635 Introduction of Occupational Health Nursing - The title has been changed to Occupational Health Nursing. This course focuses on the historical, legal, cultural, scientific, and professional foundations of occupational and environmental health nursing. Following discussion, this course was approved.
- Assignment of New Proposals
The next meeting will be Monday, March 29, 1999. The meeting was adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
