The meeting was called to order at 3:06 p.m.
- The minutes of March 29 were approved with the removal of the words "to the next meeting" from IDS 2666/2667.
- Review of Course Proposals
- AML 4275 Black Women Writers - This course focuses on the literature of women of Africa and the African Diaspora. It examines the social, historical, artistic, political, economic, and spiritual lives of Africana women. This course is planned on being offered every other year and coordinated with Religious Studies for the scheduling. Following discussion, the course was approved.
- Change in English Major - The program change was for an increase in the number of hours required for the Creative Writing Major from 33 to 36 hours. This change is proposed to bring the creative writing track into line with the others. Following discussion, the change was approved.
- EEL 4411 Electromagnetics (was Introduction to Electromagnetism) - This course explores the electromagnetic field theory, including static and dynamic electromagnetic fields; environmental effects (effects of radiation, magnetic fields). Taught under ST as a 3 hour course. Engineering students take this type of course their junior or senior year. This is an engineering sciences course. Following discussion the course was approved.
- IDS 2666/2667 Historical Perspectives I/II - These courses were tabled.
- MTG 4214 Modern Geometry - This course provides rigorous treatment of the fundamentals of plane geometries: Euclidean, elliptic and hyperbolic. Course is modeled after course offered at other universities and intended for upper level mathematic students. This course is intended to be somewhat flexible in the range of topics. Students may take this course and current geometry course since there is only minor duplication. Course will be offered every other year. Following discussion the course was approved
- SYG 3260 Latina Lives - This course explores the experiences of Latinas in the United States. It examines themes such as oppression, migration, work, family, activism, spirituality and sexuality. The course encourages students to meet Latinas in the area. The outside areas are restricted to Cuba, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Although this course can be S/U, most students take course for a letter grade. Following discussion and corrections to the syllabus, the course was approved
