USF Undergraduate Council - Minutes of September 14, 1998

Present: Nell Faucette, Mary Hardy, Ram Pendyala, Ken Pothoven, John Robison (Chairperson), Terry Rose, Edward Silbert

Absent: Silvia Fiore

Guests: Grace Erickson, W. Robert Sullins, Curtis W. Wienker

The meeting was called to order at 3:08pm.

1. The minutes of April 13, 1998 were approved as submitted.

2. The council members introduced themselves. New members for 1998/99 are Terry Rose, Silvia Fiore and Edward Silbert. The members from the colleges of Business Administration and Nursing have not been appointed yet. Silvia Fiore has a class conflict for Semester I and will probably have a similar conflict during Semester II. Terry Rose has a class conflict for Semester I but will be available during Semester II. He will try to find a substitute representative for Semester I. The operating procedures and other materials were distributed to the council members.

   The Faculty Senate approved making the General Education Council a subcommittee of the Undergraduate Council. This will probably take place for Semester II.

   General discussion followed regarding course syllabi, review of exit courses, selected topics courses vs. experimental courses.

3. Course proposals were distributed and assigned to members for presentation at future meetings.

The next meeting will be Monday, September 28, 1998. The meeting was adjourned at 4:45pm.
