USF Undergraduate Council - Minutes of September 28, 1998

The meeting was called to order at 3:04pm.

1. The minutes of September 14, 1998 were approved as submitted.

2. Announcements

3. Discussion and action on proposals

   • LIS 3343 Web Page Design & Management
     The proposed course was offered previously as a selected topics course and was very popular. It is open to all majors. The course was approved following discussion.

   • LIS 4930 Selected Topics
     The department wishes to use this course as a mechanism to try out new courses. There is no undergraduate major in Library Science. The department is considering offering an undergraduate minor. The course was approved following discussion.

   • LIT 4001 Studies in Literature
     Tabled until October 12.

   • Art Education Curriculum
     The changes proposed for the Art Education curriculum would specify that General Education and Exit Requirements for students majoring in Art Education. The proposed changes were approved.

   • MGF 2202 Finite Mathematics
     Tabled until October 12.

   • URS 3002 Introduction to Urban Studies
     The proposed course would be used as an introductory course to a new certificate program. The course was approved pending changes to 7f regarding the credential of the instructor.

   • REL 3303 Comparative Religion: Judaism and Islam
     This course would compare Judaism and Islam using classical documents of the legal systems of both religions. The course was approved pending changes in the course description, addition of the word "on" to Page 2 of the syllabus, additional references in the bibliography, and further explanation of the exam dates and writing assignments.

   • PET 3251 Issues in Sport
     Tabled until October 12.

4. Distribution and assignment of new course proposals, etc.

The next meeting will be Monday, October 12, 1998. The meeting was adjourned at 4:40pm.
