The meeting was called to order at 3:14 p.m.
- The minutes of February 28, 2000 and March 27, 2000 were approved.
- Announcements
- Review of Course Proposals
- Environmental Policy Minor - Environmental topics cover a broad range of academic disciplines. The environmental policy aspect of the environment ranges widely but has a defined core of topics. The requirements represent a combination of the broad introduction to the entire environmental spectra with a series of individual courses in the core topics. This minor will provide an excellent combination for majors in anthropology, biology, chemistry, geography, geology, political science, public administration, engineering and others by providing expanded employment qualification. Following discussion, the minor was approved.
- GEO 3013 Introduction to Physical Geography - This course involves the principles and concepts of the discipline; maps, earth-sun relationships, weather, climate, soil, water, and landforms. Following discussion, the natural science General Education certification and the reduction in credit hours from 4 to 3 was approved.
- EGN 3xxx Engineering Analysis - This course involves aspects of matrix algebra and complex algebra, which are essential in engineering: simultaneous equations, connection matrices, basic eigenvalue theory, and the complex exponential. Following discussion and minor changes in course description, this course was approved as a new course.
- NGR 6080 Family and Population Based Health Promotion - This course focuses on the assessment of families and population groups for the purpose of planning, implementing and evaluating nursing intervention for health promotion, health maintenance, and disease and injury prevention. Following discussion and the deletion of the creative thinking skill designation, this course was approved as meeting the MW/MI exit requirements.
- NGR 6121 Theoretical Basis of Advanced Practice Nursing - In this course the student explores the context of knowledge development, the student becomes aware of the interdisciplinary roots of nursing theory. Analyzing the concepts, theories, and models it is apparent that consideration if given to values and ethics, dimension, race and ethnicity as well as gender considerations. Following discussion and the deletion of the creative thinking skill designation, this course was approved as meeting Gordon Rule and the MW/MI and LW exit requirements
- NGR 6155 Ethical, Legal and Policy Issues in Advanced Nursing Practice - This course emphasizes contemporary ethical, legal, and policy issues related to advanced nursing practice and health care delivery. Issues are analyzed at the global, national, and local levels. Nursing’s role in agenda setting and strategies for health care reform are presented. Following discussion and the deletion of the LW and creative thinking skill designations, this course was approved as meeting the Gordon Rule and MW/MI exit requirements.
- Certificate in TQM (Total Quality Management) - This item was deferred until the next Undergraduate Council meeting.
The last meeting for this academic year will be Monday, April 24, 2000. The meeting was adjourned at 4:53 p.m.
