The meeting was called to order at 3:08 p.m.
The new members, Joyce Nutta and Jennifer Salk, were introduced. Ed Silbert, Chair, reviewed the general operating procedures for the Council and the responsibilities of Council members. Mary Hardy discussed what course materials were actually sent to Tallahassee for review and classification.
General Education and Exit Courses - During the summer, Ed Silbert met with Dean Sullins regarding the Liberal Arts curriculum. Jeff Kromery has been conducting evaluations of the General Education curriculum and has delivered two reports on the curriculum.
During Semester I, Dean Sullins will have an implementation proposal for the Plus/Minus Grading System. The proposal will be submitted jointly from the Undergraduate and Graduate councils to the Faculty Senate.
The Dean would also like the Council to review USF's policy on hours in residence at the upper level. He has done a review of what other state institutions are doing. He will forward a proposal to the Council for review during Semester I.
The next meeting will be Monday, September 13, 1999. The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
